Growth seen past 140 h for the xoxF1 xoxF2 double mutant strain (circles) was due to a second site suppressor mutation. (B) Growth of wild-type (diamonds), mxaF (squares), xoxF1 (triangles), xoxF2 (X's), and xoxF1 xoxF2 (circles) strains after transition of the cells from succinate growth at an OD of 0.6 to growth on methanol. Graphs depict representative data from three biological replicates. The rate of growth varied by ≤8% between replicates.
