Ultrasonic emission energy–moisture relationship. Ultrasonic emission energy was plotted against the relative water loss (RWL) of a mature Norway spruce wood beam (150 mm axial × 7 mm radial × 10 mm tangential). The variation in UE energy with increasing moisture loss was tested by the HSU-Nielsen lead break source (5 °mm, 2H) method. The distance between UE transducer and the acoustic source was 10 cm.
