NaBH4 quenches autofluorescence in multiple tissues. Autofluorescence is detected in heart, liver, lung, and kidney. In all tissues tested, NaBH4 pretreatment quenches innate tissue autofluorescence. In the kidney, reduction of background fluorescence by NaBH4 reveals blood cells (white arrow) and does not significantly reduce the autofluorescence from the blood cells.
