Briefly, venom is extracted using an electric shock of 15 V applied to the cephalothorax of the spider and the venom from the tips of the fang is collected and diluted in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) or dried and stored at -80º C until use. (D) Brown spider venom glands of Loxosceles intermedia observed by stereo dissecting microscope (40X). Venom can be harvested directly from venom glands: the removed glands are washed in PBS and the venom is obtained by gentle compression of the glands.
