RTA toxicity against yeast spheroplasts. Dissolved oxygen concentration was measured for intact wild-type cells (WT) and spheroplasts in the presence of the indicated RTA variant. All experiments were performed in triplicate (n = 3) at 30 °C and 120 rpm over 16 h. (A) Intact wild-type yeast cells treated with 50 µg of the indicated RTA variant; (B,C) Same experiment performed on yeast spheroplasts in the presence of 50 or 3 µg RTA; (D) Spheroplasts treated with 50 µg RTA before and after heat-inactivation; (E,F) Yeast spheroplasts of a Δrpl12B or Δend3 mutant in the presence of 50 µg of the indicated RTA variant.
