Catalytic nanoparticles do not promote hemolysis. Hemolysis was quantified spectrophotmetically by measuring the absorption of hemoglobin at 540 nm. Cerium oxide and platinum nanoparticles were incubated with erythrocytes at the concentrations indicated for 3 hr. at 37°C. No significant hemolysis could be observed. (The error bars are smaller than the size of the lines.) (n=3)
