In this paper, we examine the expression patterns of a subset of anterior/posterior (AP) patterning genes; general information on the regulatory relationships between the genes in our dataset is shown. Not all regulatory relationships have been precisely defined; therefore, the network is shown as a hierarchy between classes of genes (maternal, gap, terminal and pair-rule) with known interactions within classes. For example, the gap genes are known to cross-repress one another [58], and the primary pair-rule genes are thought to regulate the secondary pair-rule genes [24], [59].
