An enhancer of the transcription factor Math-1 labels precursors of dI1 interneurons in the dorsal spinal cord. The vast majority of these neurons (Math1comm; red) extend axons that cross the floor plate (FP), the ventral midline of the spinal cord. Only a small subset of Math1-positive neurons, which are born later and are positioned more ventrally, extend ipsilateral projections (Math1ipsi; blue).
