Peripheral blood cell analyses. A–D:Prg4−/− mutant and Prg4+/+ wild-type mice were administered intermittent PTH(1–34) (50 μg/kg) or vehicle (VEH) (0.9% NaCl) control subcutaneous injection daily for 6 weeks, from age 16 weeks to 22 weeks. Peripheral blood was isolated via cardiac puncture from 22-week-old Prg4−/− and Prg4+/+ mice and complete blood count analysis (automated differential) was performed to assess peripheral blood cell populations. n ≥ 10 per group. A: Percentage of neutrophils. *P < 0.001 versus +/+ VEH; P < 0.01 versus −/− VEH. B: Percentage of lymphocytes. *P < 0.001 versus +/+ VEH; P < 0.001 versus −/− VEH. C: Number of neutrophils. *P < 0.01 versus +/+ VEH; P < 0.05 versus −/− VEH. D: Number of lymphocytes. Data are expressed as means ± SEM.
