Notes. The model was estimated using the simultaneous equations method with robust (cluster-adjusted) standard errors. Estimates are from linear regressions for equations 1, 2, and 3 and multinomial logistic regression for equation 4. All equations include unit and hospital-level fixed effects, a linear time trend, unit level controls for admission–discharge ratio and RN vacancy rate, and patient-level controls for age, sex, race, socioeconomic status, lives alone, MDC, severity of illness, type of admission (medical, surgical), length of stay, prior hospitalization for same condition, QDTS content needed, received transition coordination services.
