[S-S] denotes cross-linked Cys (C). A nonbolded C denotes any Cys whose oxidation state has yet to be determined. Species are Mytilus edulis (Me), Mytilis galloprovincialis (Mg), and Mytilis californianus (Mc). Other abbreviations: Mfp, mussel foot protein; PreCOL, prepolymerized collagen; Tmp, thread matrix protein. Dopa and O-phosphoserine also occur in other proteins besides those indicated, but their sequence position has not been determined.
