Effect of BTE on NF-κB signaling and apoptosis in DSS-induced experimental colitis.
(A) Mice (6/group) were sacrificed after 6 (for total colon protein) days of 3% DSS exposure, respectively and protein (20 μg) was subjected to SDS-PAGE. IκBα, phospho-IκBα, phospho-p65, cleaved caspase 3, cleaved PARP and β-actin expression using specific antibodies respectively, and immunoreactive proteins were detected using the enhanced chemiluminescence (ECL) technique. DSS-induced IκBα phosphorylation/degradation and phosphorylation of NF-κB/p65 were blocked by BTE. An increase of cleaved caspase-3 and PARP in DSS-exposed mice was blocked by BTE treatment.
