Figure 7. Noggin and Follistatin Inhibition Assays.

The ability of Noggin and Follistatin to block ligand-induced signaling was measured using a Smad1 luciferase reporter in C2C12 cells. The ligands are BMP-2, AB204, AB211, AB212, and AB215 from left to right. The activities are shown on relative scale to the control sample (no antagonist treated) at 100% (see Methods). Four columns in each panel are activities tested at 30 ng/ml ligand with and without the presences of 30, 100, and 300 ng/ml (a) Noggin or (b) Follistatin. The experiments were performed in triplicate and reported as Fold Induction with included error bars.
