Particles conjugated to a pH-sensitive fluorophore will fluoresce subsequent to internalization by a macrophage cell. In the presence of 50 µg/mL CPAC, fluorescence is reduced three-fold, indicating that the phagocytosis of these particles was reduced. In the presence of 100 µg/mL, this was reduced six-fold compared to the control. Error bars represent one standard deviation from one experiment performed in triplicate.
