Feeding tests with brassinosteroid-biosynthetic intermediates. Inflorescences of 4-week-old dwf1-3 plants were treated with specified biosynthetic intermediates for 1 week. Pedicel length (n = 15) was measured. All of the compounds tested induced a significant response from the pedicels compared with controls. In particular, 22α-hydroxycampesterol and brassinolide completely rescued the short pedicel length to the normal wild-type length. Bars = ±sd.
