Immunohistochemistry. Panels depict ChAT (AF) and parvalbumin (GI) immunohistochemistry in the MS/VDB (A, D, G), HDB (B, E, H), and nBM/SI (C, F, I) of control (AC) and BF-lesioned (DI) rats. A loss of cholinergic (ChAT-positive) basal forebrain neurons is apparent in the BF-lesioned rats (DF), but parvalbumin-immunoreactive neurons are preserved at the lesion site (GI).
