Table 3.

Differential Conservation of CpG O/E Status Between Low- and High-CpG Genes in Nasonia vitripennis.

Conserved CpG Group with Apis mellifera Nonconserved CpG Group with A. mellifera Proportion Conserved (%)
N. vitripennis genes
Low-CpG O/E genes 2,631 369 88
High-CpG O/E genes 1,409 808 64
P value (Fisher’s exact test) <10−16

NOTE.—CpG O/E values of N. vitripennis divide into low- and high-CpG genes, representing densely and sparsely methylated genes, respectively. Genes belonging to the low-CpG O/E class in N. vitripennis exhibit significantly greater conservation of CpG O/E status compared with high-CpG O/E genes.
