The solvation free energy computed as the difference in the reaction field energy (See methods) of the protein when the external dielectric is changed from ε = 1(air/vacuum) to ε = 80 (water) using the Delphi solvation model. The figure shows that the MD_doms have significantly higher solvation free energy in comparison to their single domain homologues (Paired t-test ; t = 2.262, df = 704, P = 0.0240).
