Total RNA of non-starved parasites (black), 4-h starved parasites (white) and 4-h starved + 400 µM arginine parasites (gray). RNA was used to prepare the cDNA, as described in Material and Methods. Equal amounts of cDNA were then used in qRT-PCR to determine the copy-number of both copies of the arginine transporter, arginase and Meta1. All determinations were normalized by GAPDH.
