Values are means ± SE. CSA, cross-sectional area; CON, control subjects; DM, subjects with diabetes mellitus. Groups (DMI vs. CONI and DMII vs. CONII) were not different on any parameter, except for higher glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and higher resting heart rate.
