Blastocysts (E3.5) were flushed from the uterus of pregnant mice on day 3.5 and cultured in vitro as described under Materials and Methods. Photographs were taken with an inverted microscope (Zeiss) on 3, 5 and 7 days. After 7 days, the cells were washed with PBS (phosphate-buffered saline) and used for genotyping
