Serum cytokine levels in immunized mice. Pools of serum collected 3 (□) and 12 (■) h after final immunization and ELISA assays were performed for the presence of IL-6 (A), TNF-α (B) and IFN-γ (C). Sera were from mice immunized twice 15 days apart, with adjuvant (Adj), rSSP4 protein (10 μg), plasmid pBk-CMV (100 μg), and plasmid pBCSSP4 (100 μg). Values represent the mean ± SD of a representative triplicate assay.
