HPLC chromatograms of a carbohydrate standard (A), water-soluble carbohydrates (B), and sedoheptulose reductase reaction products (C) of fully mature polyanthus leaves. Carbohydrates were extracted by the cryo-sap method and determined by HPLC-PAD. The sedoheptulose reductase assay was performed as described in Methods.
