Diurnal pattern of soluble carbohydrates found in phloem exudates of mature leaves of 3-month-old polyanthus plants. Exudation was performed with excised leaves placed into a 5 mm EDTA solution at pH 7.5. The carbohydrates were determined by the HPLC-PAD method described in Methods.
