JAK and STAT protein structures. JAK proteins feature 7 domains; they owe their name due to the homology of JH1 and JH2 to the two faced god Janus. The difference between both domains is that JH2 lacks some residues implicated in kinase activity. STAT proteins are transcription factors that feature five conserved domains.
