The seeds were planted in ABA-free (top panels) or 1 μM ABA-containing medium for 3 d stratification, and growth status was recorded 15 d after stratification. The experiments were repeated three times with similar results. All the abbreviations are the same as used in Figs 2 and 6, and the suffix numbers (1, 2) indicate the numbers of the transgenic lines.
