Relationship between flow into the pulmonary circuit and resultant mean pulmonary arterial pressure (PAP) at baseline (0% obstruction) and two levels of vascular obstruction (~49% and ~80% vascular obstruction using emboli of size 7 mm in radius). At the standard flow used in this study (5 l/min.) PH (PAP >25 mmHg) is not present with ~48% of vascular bed occluded, but is present when flow exceeds ~3 l/min. with 80% vascular obstruction.
