GUIDELINES FOR ASYMPTOMATIC PATIENTS UNDERGOING PARATHYROIDECTOMY
1. Total serum calcium >1.0 mg/dL above the upper limit of normal.
2. Age < 50.
3. Decrease in creatinine clearance to <60 mL/min.
4. Bone mineral density T score <-2.5 and/or history of fragility fracture.
5. Inability to comply with annual surveillance.
