Ubiquitination of Ras GTPase leads to endosomal internalization. Following activation of H-Ras, Rabex-5 is ubiquitinated and Rab5 activated. These proteins, along with Rin1, are involved in Ras ubiquitination. This results in the formation of clathrin coated pits and the endocytosis of Ras into early endosomes, sequestering the protein away from the plasma membrane.
