Percent nucleotide and amino acid identities among BoNT/E subtypes by domain. Nucleotide and amino acid comparisons (presented % nucleotide/% amino acid) of eight strains representing the bont/E1 to E8 subtypes were performed to identify the percent similarities between the subtypes in the light chain (LC), translocation domain (Hn), receptor-binding domain (Hc), and holotoxin (HT). The greatest variation observed in the holotoxin is 3.1% (nucleotide) or 5.9% (amino acid) with E5 compared to E8. Strains selected for the comparisons include (E1) E213/Beluga, (E2) CDC5247, (E3) Alaska E43, (E4) BL5262, (E5) LCL155, (E6) K36, (E7) IBCA97-0192, and (E8) NYDH Bac-02-06430.
