Genes are given at the top, and their roles are indicated by the following color code: purple, low-pH survival; blue, bile salt resistance; red, riboflavin synthesis; yellow, folate synthesis; orange, starch metabolism. In the dendrogram, red indicates the absence of a gene, while green indicates its presence. The aguA and lr0085 genes are indicated in gray, because the primer used did not allow the amplification of a single band. The dendrogram shows estimated relationships among the strains and was constructed by average-linkage hierarchical analysis using Mev software, version 4.4 (56).
