(B) Substitutions of amino acid residues at the indicated positions of gQ1 were introduced into the gQ1 gene of pcDNA3.1(+)-BgQ1 as described in Materials and Methods. 293T cells were cotransfected with a plasmid expressing gQ1 or each gQ1 point mutant and a plasmid expressing gQ2. The cells were stained for IFA at 72 h posttransfection with MAb KH-1 or BgQ1-202. The reactivity of MAb KH-1 or BgQ1-202 for each gQ1 variant is shown at the right.
