The active site of BsNOS. The spatial arrangement of l-Arg, heme, and its axial Cys, H4T, and Trp66 are shown. The structure of the active site was created from the crystallographic data available for native BsNOS (PDB 1M7V (6)) using PyMol software. In the crystal structure utilized herein, the proximal Trp is in position 56 due to a truncation of the first 10 amino acids of the protein.
