Effects of condition and 5-HTTLPR/rs25531 genotype on response bias. There was a significant genotype × condition interaction, whereby the two genotype groups differed in their relative reduction in response bias from the control to the stress condition [F(1,58) = 4.38, p < 0.05, partial η2 = 0.070]. S' participants (n = 44; black bars) showed a relative decrease from the control (0.186 ± 0.137) to the stress (0.150 ± 0.117) condition, while L' participants (n = 16; gray bars) exhibited a relative increase (control: 0.129 ± 0.121; stress: 0.191 ± 0.087) (a). A genotype × condition × gender interaction indicated that the effect was present in males (S' participants: n = 24, L' participants: n = 9) (b), but not females (S' participants: n = 20, L' participants: n = 7) (c). Error bars represent the SEM.
