Neurogenesis was measured by the incorporation of bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU; detected by BD Pharmingen, cat. no. 555627 antibody) into DNA, and neurons were identified by an anti-neuronal nuclei antibody (NeuN; Millipore cat. no. AB337X) and merged samples were counted. Aging decreased, and exercise plus IGF-1 treatment increased new neuron formation. (A) Samples from histochemical measurements; (B) quantified data.
