Schematic representation of the technique used to package protein inside Qβ VLPs. Compatible T7 expression vectors drive expression of capsid protein (CP), Rev-tagged cargo enzyme, and bifunctional mRNA. The Rev-tag binds to the α-Rev aptamer (apt) and Qβ genome packaging hairpin (hp) binds to the interior of the CP monomers, tethering the enzyme to the interior of the VLP.
