Postinhibitory contraction of the entire larva was induced when the optical inhibition of motor neurons was switched off. (A) Postures of a larva expressing eNpHR before and after the offset of light stimulation. C380-Gal4 was used to express eNpHR in motor neurons. (B) Postinhibitory contraction was observed when eNpHR was expressed by OK6-Gal4 and C380-Gal4 but not when it was expressed by mhc-Gal4 or NP2225-Gal4. Relative body length, defined as the ratio of body length 0.2 sec after the offset of the light illumination to that at the time of the offset, was used as a measure.
