(Color online) Dynamics of a single bubble oscillation produced by laser absorption from a single gold dot patterned on the glass bottom of a microfluidic channel (the brighter interior in the collapse phase compared to the expansion phase may suggest a transition from an initial 3D hemispherical expansion to a two-dimensional cylindrical collapse of the bubble). The insets in the upper-left and upper-right corners of the plot show a gold dot before and after a single cavitation event, respectively, demonstrating thermal ablation and cavitation damage to the gold layer.
