Priming effect of LPS and EPS on TNF-α (a) and IL-10 (b) production by peritoneal macrophages re-stimulated with LPS. The cells (5 × 105 per well) were preincubated for 6 h with indicated concentrations of EPS and LPS, washed twice and re-stimulated with LPS (0.1 μg/ml). After 18 h, supernatants were collected and the amounts of cytokines were estimated by ELISA. Data are mean ± SEM values of three independent experiments.
