Methods including Northern blot, miRNA array, deep sequencing, and QRT-PCR are able to detect three forms of miRNA (pri-miRNA, pre-miRNA, and miRNA) during miRNA biogenesis, but can not detect miRSIC (miRNA induced silencing complex), which signals miRNA activity.
