Shown are respiratory frequency (f_R), tidal volume (Vt), minute ventilation (V̇e), oxygen consumption (V̇o₂), carbon dioxide production (V̇co₂), and oxygen and carbon dioxide convection ratios (V̇e/V̇o₂ and V̇e/V̇co₂) after single intraperitoneal injection of vehicle (saline) or suramin (40 mg/kg) in 4-, 7-, 12-, and 21-day-old rats.
