Aβ colocalizes with AβpE3 and AβpE11 in the frontal cortex. Confocal microscopy was carried out to assess colocalization of AβpE species with Aβ plaques. Human brain sections were subjected to immunohistochemistry with antibodies against AβpE3 (green, B,H,N), AβpE11 (green, E,K,Q), and Aβ (red, A,D,G,J,M,P). Specificity of antibodies to AβpE3 and AβpE11 was confirmed by pre-incubation of each with their target peptide (N or K respectively) or non-target peptide as control (H and Q respectively). Areas of colocalization of AβpE3 and Aβ (C,I,O) and of AβpE11 and Aβ (F,L,R) appear yellow in merged panels. White scale bars are 50 μm in length.
