Plot of the calculated amplitude of remitted light as a function of the angle φ between the wave number of the projected sinusoidal pattern, and the direction of the cylindrical scattering structures. The amplitudes due to 5 projection frequencies ranging from 0.1 to 0.5 mm−1 are shown. The minimum occurs when the wave number is aligned with the scattering structures. Higher frequencies are more sensitive to anisotropy, but have smaller average amplitude.
