(A) Of α-DG, LARGE-dependent glycosylation only occurs on O-linked mannose and the glycosylation is linked by phosphoester bonds. (B) Of proteins other than α-DG, LARGE-dependent glycosylation occurs on both O-linked mannose and N-linked glycans. Not all LARGE-dependent glycosylation on N-glycans is phosphoester linked. LARGE-dependent glycosylation on mucin-type glycans (Patnaik and Stanley 2005; Aguilan et al. 2009) likely occur on proteins other than α-DG.
