(A) aliquots of the reductive amination reaction were spotted on TLC plates and stained with primulin followed by resorcinol to detect lipids and sialic acid, respectively. Dark bands are resorcinol positive while circled areas correspond to primulin staining bands; (B) purification of SLPE by preparative HPLC was performed as described in the Experimental Section. Fractions from 104–112 min were pooled and analyzed for SLPE purity by analytical TLC (Figure 3).
