Note the marked thickening of the anterior lens capsule in the buphthalmic rabbit when compared to the normal animal and to the 2-year-old buphthalmic animal. The posterior capsular thickness is comparable in the normal and buphthalmic animals (original magnification ×20; periodic acid–Schiff stain).
