Growth factor-induced oscillations in the Cdk network. Temporal series of cyclin B/Cdk1 for (a) the 39-variable model and (b) the skeleton 5-variable model in the presence (50 h < t < 200 h) or absence (t < 50 h and t > 200 h) of the growth factor (GF). In both cases, the Cdk network, represented by the level of the cyclin B/Cdk1 complex, tends to a stable steady state corresponding to cell cycle arrest in the absence of the growth factor (GF = 0), and tends to a sustained oscillatory regime corresponding to cell proliferation in the presence of sufficient amounts of the growth factor (GF = 1). The values of parameters used for the 39-variable model are given elsewhere (table S2 in Gérard & Goldbeter [7]). The values of the parameters used in (b) are given in table 2.
