Retinal protein expression in the donors with diabetic retinopathy. Expression of Mfn2, Tom34, Tim44, Slc25a21, Dnm1l, and Slc25a12 was determined in the retinal (a) homogenate and (b) mitochondria by Western blot technique using β-actin and CoxIV as loading controls for homogenate and mitochondria samples, respectively. Western blot analyses are representative of five to seven donors in each group, and the accompanying histograms represent expression of the proteins adjusted to the loading controls (β-actin for total and CoxIV for mitochondria). *P < 0.05 compared with the values obtained from nondiabetic donors.
