(a) Data averaged across seven subjects in Experiment 2a indicate that performance on the orientation discrimination task for the pop-out target location is not significantly different from that of the control location. (b) Data averaged across five subjects in Experiment 2b show that performance on the orientation discrimination task for the target (feature singleton) location is significantly different from that of the control location for the “attention available” (+Attention) blocks, but not for the “no attention” (-Attention) blocks. A significant interaction between block and location was found only at the 300ms ISI.
