CD19^lowCD43⁻ pre-B cells were isolated using a FACStar Plus (BD Biosciences) instrument. Sorted cell populations were routinely re-analyzed and showed more than 92% purity. The pre-B colonies counted were cultured for 7 days in Complete methylcellulose medium in the presence of SL156 and IL-7. Data are presented as mean ± S.D. of pre-B colony-forming units.
